Barclays Capital has hired Bear Stearns equity structured products assistant director Johnny Wu as an associate director in its equity derivatives and structured products sales division in New York. Wu reports to Philippe El-Asmar, head of investor solutions for the Americas, whom Barclays charged with building the U.S. fund and equity-linked instruments team (DW, 3/29).
Wu's hire is part of Barclays' overall initiative to grow the team and coincides with the launch of its onshore fund derivatives platform (DW, 1/31). El-Asmar confirmed the hire but declined comment. At Bear Stearns, Wu reported to Bruce Jaeger, a senior managing director in the division.
