Chinese borrowers get ahead of holiday weekend

Two Chinese government-linked companies raised a combined $600m in the offshore market on Thursday, ahead of the long weekend in China.

China is celebrating Labour Day May 1-5, driving new bonds from the country to a near standstill. Syndicate bankers say primary market bond issuance will be minimal next week, as borrowers from other parts of the region wait for China's return. No new trades were announced on Friday. ...
