UK piles an extra £92bn on to record borrowing programme

The UK Debt Management Office provided an update to its funding programme following the Spending Review and the Office for Budget Responsibility’s Economic and Fiscal Outlook on Wednesday.

The DMO said it was planning total Gilt sales of £485.5bn for its 2021/21 financial year, which runs up until the end of March next year. This is well over double the amount of the UK’s previous biggest ever annual funding programme in 2009/10 when it raised £227.6bn.
