European corp bond trading tails off as primary market pauses after record supply

Trading volumes for European investment grade and high yield corporate bonds reached the lowest volume of the year in July as the market paused for breath following a record pace of issuance since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

European corporate bond trading volumes totalled €241bn in July, down 20.4% from €289.7bn in June and the lowest volume since €186.15bn of bonds traded hands in December 2019, according to data provided by MarketAxess on Monday.
