EBA finally receives approval for exec director

François-Louis Michaud was approved as the next executive director of the European Banking Authority on Wednesday. The EBA’s previous choice was rejected by parliamentarians, and this nomination faced scrutiny too over gender balance.

Members of the European Parliament approved the candidate, despite the Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee (ECON) rejecting him by one vote last week. The Parliament voted for him by 343 votes to 296, with 56 abstentions.
