Meat and fish industry could incubate next pandemic

The meat, dairy and fish industries are harbouring grave risks of causing future pandemics, and must radically improve their safety procedures, according to an investor coalition which controls $21tr of assets.

Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return (Fairr), an investor network launched in December 2015 that raises awareness of the risks of intensive animal production, published a report on Wednesday highlighting the vulnerability of the industry to zoonotic diseases — those that move from animals to humans.
