Laos lands international rating as Moody’s tags it B3

Lao People's Democratic Republic has taken a step towards selling a public dollar bond in the international market, after gaining its first local and foreign currency issuer ratings from Moody’s on Wednesday.

Moody's has assigned a B3 rating with a positive outlook to the government of Laos, citing the country's high economic growth potential. The ratings agency also pointed out Laos's weak executive institutions, limited transparency and small economy as potential hindrances in its note on Wednesday.
