UniCredit plans to split its funding strategy

UniCredit said in its third quarter results on Thursday that it would move to a model in which all of its legal entities were self-funding, gradually minimising its intra-group exposure.

Though chief executive Jean Pierre Mustier did not expand much on the plans, and it only merited a line in the bank’s presentation, UniCredit said it was “to further enhance the group’s risk profile… given the current volatility across a number of markets”.
