BNP Paribas has hired Shahzad Malik, v.p. in structured products at JPMorgan in Singapore, in a new role as a senior structurer for Southeast Asia in the Lion City. "We've had success in North Asia and wanted to strengthen our capabilities for the southern part," said Cedric Podevin, Asia-Pacific head of credit structuring at BNP in Hong Kong. The new recruit will cover Singapore, Thailand, India and Malaysia.
Malik will concentrate primarily on synthetic collateralized debt obligations, but will also handle such products as bond options and credit-linked notes, noted Podevin, to whom Malik reports.
Pholida Phengsomphone, spokeswoman at JPMorgan, did not return calls regarding Malik's replacement.
