Chubut chugs Argentina along with $650m secured bond

Chubut, La Trochita, Argentina, train, Patagonia
A legendary Patagonian passenger train is once again running, Oct. 18, 2003 near Esquel, after eight years. La Trochita, built in 1922, connects the Patagonian city of Ingeniero Jacobacci, in the province of Rio Negro, with Esquel, in Chubut province. The train first made the trip across wind-swept southern Argentina in 1945, but the service was canceled in 1995 after financial difficulties arose. The 320-mile (400-kilometer) route normally takes the train 12 hours to complete. But the inaugural trip took nearly two days last weekend because of celebrations at once-abandoned stations along the way. The province of Chubut’s debut dollar bond, sold on Tuesday, traded well on the break as bankers said demand for Argentina risk was unsated with at least two more provinces lining up issues.
