Junk Analyst Leaves B Of A For Druckenmiller Hedge Fund

BondWeek is the leading news publication for fixed-income professionals, covering new deals, structures, asset-backed securities, industry and market activity.

Trent Spiridellis has left Banc of America Securities, where he was a principal and a high-yield and distressed analyst covering the wireline telecom and media sectors, to join Duquesne Capital Management. Duquesne is a hedge fund run by Stanley Druckenmiller, the high-profile former chief strategist at Soros Fund Management LLC, who has made frequent appearances on Forbes magazine's list of the 400 richest Americans. Spiridellis did not return calls, and Druckenmiller, through an assistant, confirmed the hire but declined further comment.

Andrew Susser, managing director and director of high-yield research at B of A, says Spiridellis is "a terrific analyst and we wish him well." He says the firm has very good depth in the telecom and media space, but is also interviewing externally, and has not yet determined how best to fill the spot.

Spiridellis was a third-teamer on the Institutional Investor 2002 All-America Fixed-Income Research Team. Prior to joining B of A in 1997, he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
