Ujjival Desai has left Goldman Sachs after nine years with the firm to head up J.P. Morgan Securities' European collateralized debt obligation structuring and origination business, according to a firm official. The role is a new one, in which Desai works alongside David Reilly, v.p. in origination, who joined J.P. Morgan from Goldman about a year ago. Desai joins as a v.p. and will report to Oldrich Masek, co-head of global structured credit origination, according to Sarah Oppler, spokeswoman. Masek did not return calls and Desai could not be reached. He started at the end of last month.
Rebecca Nelson, spokeswoman for Goldman, confirmed Desai's departure and said he had been part of the structured asset and liability team reporting to Stephen Scobie, head of the European book of structured assets and liabilities. She was unable to provide more information.
