Jeff Thomas, senior director in leveraged finance origination and execution at Royal Bank of Scotland in London, has joined Bank of America in London on the leveraged finance origination team. He starts in October and will report to Rommie Bhutani, head of financial sponsors and leveraged finance origination, according to an official at the firm. Thomas was on gardening leave and could not be reached; Bhutani declined comment.
BofA has identified debt as a core competency for the bank in Europe and has focused on building out the team, said Liz Wood, spokeswoman. She declined to specify how many professionals have been hired for the debt platform in recent months.
At RBS, Thomas reported to Euan Hamilton, global head of leveraged finance, according to an official in the team. Hamilton was on vacation and could not be reached for comment.
