Royal Bank of Canada Capital Markets in London has hired Grant Gibson, partner at Alegra Capital in Zurich, as a director in principal finance. Jean Dulude, managing director and head of an eight-strong team, said the role is a new one and RBC is staffing up to keep pace with the growth in assets under management and to make it possible to pursue different strategies. Gibson said he is spearheading a new initiative but would not give more details. The team invests predominantly in triple-A through single-A asset-backed securities and collateralized debt obligations.
At Alegra, an investment manager specializing in asset-backed securities, Gibson worked together with partners Daniel Riediker, Philippe Jodin, Roland Raeber, Alfred Haslinger and Stephan Marti.
