Deutsche Bank has added five marketers to its equity structured product sales team in London--three of which are joining in new roles. The hires are on the back of increased revenues, according to a firm official.
Janne Leirvik, equity derivatives sales to Scandinavia at Commerzbank Securities in London, is joining as v.p. responsible for sales in Scandinavia; Mike Egerton, structured equity salesman at Merrill Lynch, will be a director and responsible for U.K. sales; and Stephen Birkwood, marketer to the Netherlands within equity derivatives at BNP Paribas, will be v.p. and focus on sales to the Netherlands and to northern European asset managers. All three will report to Kim Gayer, head of northern European sales and will start in June, Gayer said. Egerton replaces Mark Versey, U.K. equity derivatives salesman, who went to Lehman last month (DW, 4/28).
In addition, Joakim Darras, director and hedge fund structuring salesman for the Benelux countries and Scandinavia at Zurich Capital Markets in London, is joining as a senior structured salesman within the internal distribution team, Andrea Sozzi-Sabatini, structured equity salesman at Merrill Lynch, will be a salesman to Italy. Darras reports to Geert Bossuyt, head of internal sales for structured and investment products and Sozzi-Sabatini reports to Andrea Minetti, head of southern European sales. Bossuyt and Darras confirmed the move and added that Darras will join mid June. Minetti did not return calls. Sozzi-Sabatini could not be reached.
At Commerzbank, Leirvik reported to Hughes de la Marnierre, European head of fixed-income, derivatives and foreign exchange sales, according to Neil Brazil, a spokesman at Commerzbank in London. Sozzi-Sabatini and Egerton reported to Amilcare Police, head of sales to institutional clients including insurance companies and pension funds at Merrill Lynch. Police declined comment. Birkwood reported to Christian Kwek, head of London equity derivatives and derivatives marketing to European institutions at BNP Paribas in London, according to Edwina Frawley, a spokeswoman at BNP in London. At ZCM, Darras reported to Gareth Edwards, managing director. Edwards referred calls to Dina Schonfeld, spokeswoman in New York, who confirmed the departure.
