BNP Paribas has hired Pierre Katerdjian, global credit swap trader at Deutsche Bank in Sydney and former credit derivatives committee chairman for the Australian Financial Markets Association, in a new role in Sydney as a senior marketer in the structured credit products group. "This is an additional role focusing on structured credit products," said Marcus Blake, head of derivatives and structured credit marketing in Sydney.

Blake said that while it is unusual for credit traders to switch over to the sales side, Katerdjian's experience will allow it to increase its presence in Australia. Blake added that the firm is also looking to hire an additional interest rate derivatives marketer. "We're still in build mode," said Blake. Katerdjian, who starts in the coming weeks, could not be reached for comment.

At Deutsche Bank, Katerdjian reported to Kevin Kosovich, head of integrated credit trading for Australia and New Zealand in Sydney. Kosovich said Katerdjian's position has been assumed via internal transfer by Gary Jeffrey, head of credit research in Sydney, who declined comment.
