Banque AIG has announced a string of hires to its global foreign exchange force and promises to add more staffers by the end of the year, the move comes in the wake of several professionals leaving during the integration of AIG Trading Group and AIG Financial Products. The bank is looking to focus on cross-asset products, with fx as a strategic starting point, according to John Wareham, global head of foreign exchange and emerging markets.

AIG has already hired six staffers and Wareham hopes to add up to five more staffers by the end of the year. Tom Kushner, head of institutional sales for North America at UBS, has joined AIG'S Wilton, Connecticut office two weeks ago to focus on real money accounts. Andrew Colom, previously at Barclays Capital in Tokyo, also joined two weeks ago. Colom is based in the Tokyo office, focusing on sales to hedge funds and commodity trading advisors clients in Asia. Chris Slusher, previously at Fleet Boston as a marketer and structure of fx solutions for North American corporate clients, joined the Wilton office two months ago in a similar role. At the end of the month, three further hires will join the London office; Stephen Gilmore, an emerging markets strategist at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, Spencer Schubert, a trader at TD Securities in London, andPei Koh from Goldman Sachs, who will market fx and other products to a range of institutional clients.
