Barclays Capital in New York has doubled the size of its collateralized debt obligation team with the hire of seven staffers from Credit Suisse First Boston.
Kristofer Kraus has been brought on board as a managing director and head of North American CDOs, reporting to Vince Balducci, head of global credit derivatives. Stephen King has been hired as a director and head of North American cash and synthetic CDOs referencing asset-backed securities. He will report to Kraus. Barclays has also added Edward Dale and Jasen Yang as associate directors, Ryan Babcock and Rohit Chaku as associates, and Hogan Chen as an analyst in the CDO group. Kraus, reached at Barclays, referred calls to spokeswoman Karina Byrne, who confirmed the hires. The seven hires establish a 14-person CDO team with expertise in both cash and synthetic products, Byrne said.
CSFB spokesman Pen Pendleton confirmed Kraus was a managing director and co-head of its CDO group, alongside Frank Hager and Jerry DeVito. Hager and DeVito now jointly head the group, he said. King was a director specializing in the origination of cash CDOs referencing asset-backed securities and Yang, v.p., specialized in commercial mortgage-backed securities. Pendleton could not determine the responsibilities of Dale, v.p. and Babcock, an associate, by press time and declined comment on replacements for the team.
