Calyon has bulked up its global foreign exchange options business with hires in Hong Kong and London. Colin George, fx trader at BNP Paribas in Singapore, joins in a new role covering Commonwealth currencies from Hong Kong and will be joined by trader David Turner, from ANZ in Melbourne, who will cover Asian regional currencies. Both will report locally to John Arvanitis, Asian head of foreign exchange options and globally to Derek Sammann, managing director and global head of foreign exchange options in London.
The firm has also expanded its fx structuring effort, based in Paris, by making two internal appointments in London who will be closer to northern European clients. Alexandra Ilinskaia has moved over from the fx quantitative research team to structure correlation and volatility products and Sebastien Angles has joined the structured sales force after working in capital market sales in Calyon's Lille office. Both report to Christine Lefort, global head of fx structuring.
Samman confirmed the four appointments, adding the firm is focused on boosting the global reach of its trading and structured product platforms.
