Bear Stearns has expanded its volatility trading effort in Tokyo with a pair of hires. Floris Florquin, equity derivatives trader at WestLB Securities, has joined as an associate director for Japanese volatility trading, while Chi-Sun Chui, equity derivatives trader at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, joins today as an associate director for non-Japan Asia volatility trading. Equity officials at WestLb declined comment on a replacement for Florquin and Sauw Yim, spokeswoman at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, declined all comment on the departure.
"We're beefing up the trading desk to handle the increase in our customer business," said Kin Cheung, senior managing director and head of equity trading for Asia in Tokyo. The move is part of Bear Stearns' expansion into Asia this year, which has seen a wave of hires in both Tokyo and Hong Kong since the onset of the year (DW, 1/21).
