Nikko Citigroup has hired Takahiro Yamanashi, v.p. in equity derivative sales at Lehman Brothers in Tokyo, as a v.p. in the equity derivative group covering private-placement convertible bonds structuring and marketing. "This has been a growing method for equity financing," said Yamanashi. He added over 100 private deals have hit the market this year, with strong issuance expected to continue next year. Typical private deals in Japan contain adjustable strike prices that are reset every month. Yamanashi reports to Takashi Sakai, co-head of equity capital markets in Tokyo. Miyuki Sato, spokeswoman at Lehman in Tokyo, did not respond to messages.
