Commerzbank Corporates & Markets is setting up a group within its equity derivatives division to structure commodity-linked investment products. The group will be headed by David Burns, head of risk and business management for equity derivatives, reporting to Roberto Vila, head of equity derivatives in London.
Burns said setting up a commodity focused group was a natural next-step to expand Commerzbank's equity structured products business. Burns referred further questions to Margarita Thiel, spokeswoman, who confirmed the firm's move, declining further comment.
Commodity-linked investment products have proved popular this year, and most European dealers have been offering the structures and distributors including PIMCO Europe and Dawnay Day Quantum have also offered deals (DW, 10/14).
