The International Swaps and Derivatives Association is picking up its work in Latin America, in response to a resurgence of interest in the area. The trade association will publish its first netting opinion for Brazil in the next couple of weeks, and has also met with governments in Chile, Argentina and Peru in the last few months to discuss netting provisions.
Louise Marshall, spokeswoman, said nothing concrete has yet come from the initial discussions about netting in Chile, Argentina or Peru, but they will likely continue next year. "There's a lot of potential activity there from European entities in particular," she added, noting there is significant interest from ISDA members in projects in the region.
