CIBC World Markets is expanding its equity derivatives business and has hired Lars Sjumarken, former sales pro at BNP Paribas in London, in a new role as head of marketing for Europe and Asia. Sjumarken, previously, head of equity derivative sales to Holland and the Nordic region at BNP Paribas in London, left the French firm at the end of October (DW, 10/28) and is set to join CIBC in the New Year. He declined comment when reached on his cell phone.
An official at CIBC said the hire is part of a buildup of the firm's equity derivative effort in Europe and Asia, declining further comment. Sjumarken will work closely with Matt Milsom, European head of equity derivatives, who was on holiday and could not be reached for comment.
