Lehman Brothers' European equity recruitment drive is forging ahead, with the hire of a senior hedge fund saleswoman and an exotics trader. Sophie Granchi, director covering equity derivative sales to hedge funds at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, and Alex Capez, director and single stocks trader also at Dresdner, are set to join and follow a string of mid-level sales and marketing hires earlier this year (DW, 2/17). Laurent Ichard, head of equity derivative hedge fund sales at Barclays Capital, is also tipped to join (DW, 3/17).
Mark Rutherford, head of European equity sales in London, said the hiring is not over yet, although he would not comment on numbers, or say why the firm is making its move now. Last year, the firm forked out for head of equity derivative sales Axel Kilian, who brought two senior JPMorgan colleagues with him (DW, 2/14/05). Kilian has been expanding the sales force with hires to cover Benelux, Germany and the Middle East.
