Don Lee, head of foreign exchange options trading at HSBC in New York, has left the firm, as has Steve Popp, responsible for fx derivatives trading at Barclays Capital in New York. The departures appeared to be unrelated and neither Lee nor Popp could be reached for comment. Traders at HSBC said Lee left two weeks ago and officials at Barclays said Popp left three weeks ago and has not been replaced.
Juanita Gutierrez, spokeswoman at HSBC, and Kristin Friel, spokeswoman at Barclays, confirmed the departures but did not comment further.
