Barclays Capital has hired a German equity derivative sales team and also a hedge fund salesman, in a buildout of its sales coverage in London. Dirk Schremmer, Wolfgang Stefan and Axel Kaiser, all join from Morgan Stanley to cover sales to Germany and Austria. Walid Maaouni joins from Citigroup and will sell equity derivatives to hedge funds. The titles of all four and details of their roles could not immediately be determined.
Maaouni is expected to report to Andrew Stonely, head of equity derivative flow sales, who also previously worked at Citi. Stonely declined comment. The German trio are tipped to report jointly to Stonely and Omar Selim, head of sales, trading and origination for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Selim did not immediately return a message.
Nick Tranter, head of equity derivative distribution at Morgan Stanley in London, did not return a message. Cindy Ferrara, managing director responsible for hedge fund sales at Citi, said Lamia Outgenza, previously an equity derivative strategist at the firm, will replace Maaouni.
