Merrill European Credit Team Loses Troika

Adam Clayton, managing director in structured credit at Merrill Lynch in London, has quit the firm.

Adam Clayton, managing director in structured credit at Merrill Lynch in London, has quit the firm. His departure, first reported on the DW Web site, has been followed by Susan Green, a director, and also reportedly by associate Jack Barouhiel. The departures come in the wake of structured credit head Malik Chaabouni's defection to Deutsche Bank (DW, 2/17). The original size of the team could not be determined.

Clayton declined comment when reached on his cell. He is expected to surface at Goldman Sachs, but this could not be immediately confirmed and Rebecca Nelson, spokeswoman, did not return a message. Green declined comment when reached on her cell, but she is tipped for a role at Morgan Stanley. Carlos Melville, spokesman at Morgan, declined comment.

The three staffers reported ultimately to Paul Horvath, head of structured credit product management, who was traveling and could not be reached for comment. Alex Walker, spokeswoman at Merrill Lynch, declined comment.
