UBS has boosted its market-access desk in the region with a senior transfer from New York. Anita Daryanani, director on the securities lending desk in New York, has shifted to the equity swaps and access products team in Hong Kong as an addition to the unit, noted Joe Cavatoni, Asian head of equity swaps in Hong Kong. Prior to a year in New York, Daryanani worked in Tokyo for the firm.
"This is the result of increased business--we need more bodies out here," Cavatoni noted. A few additional hires are set to join the desk, he added, as more clients including hedge funds look for exposure to such markets as China, India and Taiwan.
