Merrill Lynch is continuing its massive build out in structured solution sales in Asia with two senior hires. According to a memo obtained by DW, Jay Lee, an equity derivative sales official at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, has joined as a director in equity structured solutions in Hong Kong to focus on the Korean market and Kikuchi Kanji, marketer at BNP Paribas in Tokyo, has joined as a director in Tokyo to overlook fund derivative products. The two report to Abhinav Gorawara, managing director and head of Pacific Rim equity structured solutions in Hong Kong.
Merrill's regional expansion in derivatives sales has been across asset classes this year, and it has made dozens of hires and transfers (DW, 3/31).
Jason Collins, spokesman at Deutsche Bank in Singapore, and Hitoshi Matsuzaki, spokesman at BNP in Tokyo, declined comment.
