UPC’s bond structure reels in loan investors
UPC, the Dutch cable firm, used an unusal structure to lure loan investors when it sold a Eu500m high yield bond this week. Rather than issue a bond directly, it issued a loan into an SPV that issued the bonds. That allowed it to include maintenance covenants common to leveraged loans.
