UPC introduces new HY bond structure to entice loan buyers

UPC, the Dutch cable firm, used a unique structure to lure loan investors when it sold a Eu500m high yield bond this week. Rather than issue a bond directly, it issued a loan into an SPV which then issued the bonds. That allowed it to include the kinds of maintenance covenants common to leveraged loans.
