Low Russian deal count drags down EM loans

The dearth of syndicated loans originated in Russia, where deal volumes have dropped by 89% so far this year, has contributed to a 57% overall fall across the emerging markets in 2009. India has now pipped Russia to the top spot as the leading emerging market loan borrowing country, new data from Dealogic showed on Wednesday.
