Hedge Funds May Lose On Topix Calls
Several hedge funds bought a total of about USD1 billion of one to two-year 105-110% upside calls on the TOPIX Index tracking Japanese banks shortly before the earthquake, leaving those trades now closer to 125% out-of-the-money, according to one official with knowledge of the trades.
