GlobalWafers nets $470m from GDS block

Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer GlobalWafers Co has raised $469.2m from a sale of Global Depository Shares, which it plans to to use for repaying loans from its acquisition of SunEdison Semiconductor in 2016.

The issuer launched the trade at 4pm Hong Kong time on Thursday and had books covered within one hour, according to a source close to the deal. The block comprised 62m GDS and a 6m greenshoe, which it exercised in full following the strong demand.
