SMIC edges closer to exchange Panda debut

Hong Kong-listed Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) moving closer to making its Panda bond debut in the exchange market, as the Shanghai Stock Exchange is approving its revised application.

The red chip company submitted its preliminary prospectus to the SSE in December, seeking approval for a Rmb3bn ($437m) Panda bond programme.

But the exchange returned the application two weeks later and asked SMIC to update its financials with data for the third quarter of 2016.
