Etisalat Egypt, the Egyptian subsidiary of Emirates Telecommunications (Etisalat), has signed a E£7.2bn ($1.2bn) syndicated loan with a group of 25 banks to finance the expansion of its network.

Syndication for MDM Bank’s $300m amortising loan facility will continue into the new year, despite the official deadline for commitments having passed on December 17. Bankers have until mid-January to wrap up the deal and are confident that there will be no hiccups, with some lenders having already committed.
