We enjoyed reading the comments of John Varley, the chief executive of Barclays, who confirmed that the group is "definitely not for sale". Unlike Charlie Prince at Citigroup, there is every reason for Varley to be enjoying life at the top and, with the exception of the occasional hiccup at Barclaycard, the group seems to be sailing through untroubled waters.
