ECB calls for end to speculative HFT competition

A new paper authored by the European Central Bank has called for an end to competition among high-frequency trading speculators.

The new ECB working paper entitled Competition Among High Frequency Traders, and Market Quality suggests that high frequency trading (HFT) competition both adversely affects market quality and increases volatility due to an increase in speculative trading.
