Insurance issuance picks up pace in Q2

Insurance companies are finally picking up bond issuance after a first quarter that suffered the lowest issuance volumes since 2017. Finnish firm Sampo was the latest issuer this week.

First quarter bond insurance issuance in the euro markets was just €3.1bn after registering €2bn during the same period in 2016, €4.1bn in 2017 and €6.4bn in 2018, according to Dealogic data.

Just five deals made up this year's first quarter, from Generali, CNP Assurances, Zurich, Aegon and Marsh ...
