PRA suggests Brexit bonus for UK challengers

UK regulators may simplify regulations for smaller banks, depending on the outcome of Brexit, and are taking a “close interest” in a US proposal for a 9% leverage ratio.

Sam Woods, chief executive of the Prudential Regulation Authority and deputy governor for prudential regulation at the Bank of England, made the announcement in a speech on Thursday.

He was talking about the regulator’s objective to facilitate competition, as well as to ensure prudence.
