Bayer launches jumbo rights issue as Monsanto deal closes

Bayer, the German life sciences company, this week unveiled the terms for a €6bn rights issue, after its acquisition of Monsanto, the US agrochemical and biotech company, cleared its final regulatory hurdles last week.

In a statement on Monday, Bayer said that it expected to close the takeover on Thursday, after the deal received conditional approval from the Department of Justice in the US on Tuesday last week.
