Axel Springer, United Internet to float merged marketing unit

German publishing company Axel Springer’s shares jumped 4.3% on Wednesday this week after it announced a plan with United Internet to merge their affiliate marketing divisions and float the combined entity.

Affiliate marketing is a form of internet marketing where a seller uses other websites to promote its products, and pays them for doing so.

United Internet will incorporate its Affilinet business into Axel Springer's Awin. Axel Springer will own 80% of the company, United Internet 20%.
