HSBC has appointed Ian Dorrington as its new global head of leveraged and acquisition finance, to replace Ray Doody, who retired in March.
He joins after 12 years at Deutsche Bank, where he was co-head of US leveraged finance. He had previously worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, in London and New York.
Based in New York, Dorrington will oversee the global team across levfin and acquisition financing origination and syndicate.
He will start in August, reporting to Adam Bagshaw and Matthew Ginsburg, co-heads of capital financing and investment banking coverage. Dorrington will also report on an entity basis to Gerry Keefe, head of global banking Americas.
Until then, Tim Spray, global head of LAF syndicate, Paul Cahalan, head of LAF Europe and Menat, and Joe Sheehan, head of LAF Americas, will jointly manage the business.
Also reporting to Dorrington will be Rachel Watson, co-head of LAF Asia Pacific, and Ashish Sharma, co-head of LAF and head of loan syndications Asia Pacific.
