Banco Santander Chile has promoted from within to replace its departing head of corporate and investment banking (CIB).

Andrés Trautmann, head of markets at Santander Chile, last week took over as head of CIB for Chile from Fred Meller, who is leaving the bank after 25 years. Trautmann will retain his duties as head of markets.

Before joining Santander Chile in September 2018, Trautmann spent more than five years as head of EM local sales at Goldman Sachs in New York. He had a previous stint at Santander between 2007 and 2013, working in sales in London and Chile.

Trautmann will report to Santander’s global head of CIB, José Linares, and to Santander Chile’s CEO Miguel Mata.

Spain’s Santander Group owns 67.2% of Santander Chile.
