Italy resilient despite Spain’s downgrade
Italy auctioned bonds on Friday following Spain’s two notch downgrade by Standard & Poor’s to BBB+. In spite of a rocky trading session in the morning, Spanish and Italian government bonds were not much wider on the day by the afternoon, leading SSA bankers to hope that the downgrade will not have much impact on the prospects for new issuance.
