ABN AMRO in London has added two salesmen to its Italian coverage team.
Enrico Imbraguglio, relationship manager for institutional customers at the Italian investment bank Abaxbank in Milan, started last week in London as an associate director in fixed income sales, covering pension funds and bank foundations. Matteo Santoro, in structured credit sales at BNP Paribas in London, joined earlier this month in a similar role.
"We are building the desk as quickly as possible, and plan to finalize our hiring early next year so as to be operating with full force in 2005," said Alberto Matta, head of distribution to Italy, who himself joined in June from BNP Paribas to build the team (BW, 7/5). He indicated one more senior and one mid-level hire are in the pipeline.
At Abaxbank, Imbraguglio reported to Maurizio de Martino, head of business development. De Martino said Abaxbank is in the process of replacing Imbraguglio, adding that the bank has just completed hiring for its derivatives desk and is expanding its institutional business. At BNP Paribas, Santoro reported to Giorgi Majorano, head of flow business on the Italian desk. Majorano could not be reached by press time.
