JPMorgan has hired Kelvin Wong, head of structured credit sales at Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, in a new role as head of credit sales in Hong Kong. "The pie is going to grow significantly in Asia and we want to increase the size of our slice," said Guido Haller, head of investor sales at JPMorgan in Hong Kong, to whom Wong now reports. Haller said that in addition to developing the firm's bond distribution network, Wong will also look to build its structured credit product business in non-Japan Asia. Wong, who starts in the coming weeks, could not be reached.
The firm has also hired more junior sales professionals in the region. Cindy Wong, fixed income sales at HSBC in Hong Kong, has joined as a senior fixed income saleswoman for China in Hong Kong, to replace Lu Zhen, fixed income sales in Hong Kong. In Taiwan, Steven Yang, derivatives sales at Deutsche Bank in Taipei, has started in a new role as Taiwan head of investor sales in Taipei. Yang did not return calls and Wong, who starts in the coming weeks, could not be reached.
At Deutsche Bank, Kelvin Wong reported to Vinod Aachi, head of the relative value group in Singapore, and Yang reported to Cynthia Chan, country treasurer and head of global markets in Taipei, both of which did not return calls. Wong reported to Martin Taylor, head of institutional sales at HSBC in Hong Kong, who declined comment.
