Merrill Lynch has bulked up its Tokyo credit effort with recent hires for sales and trading.

Merrill Lynch has bulked up its Tokyo credit effort with recent hires for sales and trading. Gireesh Ramji, fixed income trader at Morgan Stanley in Mumbai, has joined as a credit derivatives trader focusing on high-grade cash and default-swap products while Shi Wei Wong, marketer at JPMorgan in Singapore, has joined the hedge fund desk to market credit products in the region, according to Takayuki Inoue, spokesman in Tokyo. Ramji now reports to Ronnie Roy, head of credit trading for the Pacific Rim in Tokyo, and Wong reports to Jeff Burde, head of hedge fund sales for the Pacific Rim.

Pauling Cheung, spokeswoman at Morgan Stanley, and Pholida Phengsomphone, spokeswoman at JPMorgan, did not respond to messages by press time.
