SG Corporate & Investment Banking has hired well Raphael Geys as head of fixed income sales for Europe. Geys reports to Frederic Desclaux, co-head of fixed income for Europe and Asia. Desclaux confirmed the hire. Geys, last sighted at UBS (DW, 2/11/04), could not immediately be reached as he does not have a phone listing at SG yet.
Geys started at SG CIB today as European head of fixed income sales, targeting financial institutions. He fills the slot vacated by Desclaux, who was promoted in September. Desclaux said the bank intends to boost its fixed income business with further hires, but he declined to detail its plans.
Prior to UBS, Geys spent 10 years at Merrill Lynch where he was involved in pitching a series of now infamous structured rates deals to the Kingdom of Belgium in the 1990s (DW, 12/2/96).
